Welcome to St. John Lutheran Church of Richfield

Advent Messages

Advent is a time of preparation. We hear a lot of complaints about how the retail world chooses to mark the time before Christmas, how we're greeted, when the sales begin. Advent is a spiritual time, apart from all the hustle and bustle. It's not pre-Christmas, it's not shopping season. It's preparation for the coming of Christ.

Do a google search for the phrase Advent Conspiracy. You'll find many thought provoking articles and videos.

The sermons for Sundays in Advent at St John are taking different forms.

Advent 1 - An Open Letter to the Graduating Class of 2025

Advent 2 - A Conversation Between Two Judean Women

New Videos Temporarily On Hold

There are a few 2011 videos of children's choirs singing, but a PC crash and rebuild is slowing things down in the parsonage office. The editing capabilities are last to be restored after vital functions. By summer camp, there should be full multi-media sharing via the web.

St. John Lutheran Church of Richfield has been a part of the community for over 100 years. We are part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, the largest Lutheran denomination in the U.S.

Recent Pictures

May 23, 2010 we celebrated the Day of Pentecost. It is an important day in the life of the Church, along with Christmas and Easter. We remember the coming of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts, Chapter 2. To make a visible reminder of this for children, without using actual fire, Pastor Weaver's children's sermon featured hats of flame made from balloons. Look for bigger balloons from our church in the Richfield Dutch Days parade.

In the Community

St. John Lutheran Church of Richfield is a proud sponsor of the summer day camp in Basom Park, with staff from Camp Mount Luther. See our pictures here. We are also a member congregation of the Richfield Inter-Church Council. Our members can be found serving the community in many organizations, and especially the heart of Richfield, Dutch Days.

Worship at the Center

We worship at 10:30 each Sunday morning. Sunday School classes are at 9am. We have two active adult classes as well as childrens classes. For more information about what Sunday morning is like, click Our Worship on the left.
