Sanctuary Renovation
With plans for a new pipe organ to be installed, a decision was made to renovate the chancel area of our sanctuary. It is now level, and includes a ramp to access the area. This not only brings simplicity to the space for worship, it adds accessibility too. Until the new altar, dedicated in October 2009 was added, the old altar on the wall was pulled out be be free-standing and central. It now serves as what is called a credence, back on the wall in its old place, keeping flowers and a cross.
Members of the congregation did the bulk of the work, and signed the underside of some boards. The hardwood floor was discovered to provide a better acoustic response than re-carpeting. The aesthetic appeal of wood is also an improvement.
